Trends in Costal Living

Coastal living has always been on trend. Waking up to the sunrise peeking over the ocean’s horizon; sipping a refreshing cocktail overlooking the ocean’s picturesque landscape; sandy walks and salty swims at a moment’s notice. If you could whisk away on a boat just for a dolphin or sunset cruise on any afternoon, how could you ever pass up that opportunity? Let’s face it, coastal living is something we’d all have direct access to in an ideal world.

With remote work trending and homeowners prioritizing their living spaces now more than ever before, we’re only seeing a rise in coastal trends, and we don’t anticipate that slowing down any time soon. While you may have thought about dropping everything and finding a way to live beach-side, it simply might not be possible with your current lifestyle or due to other obligations.

Seaside living doesn’t just have to be part of your dreamy vacations, though. We’re here with the scoop on how to bring those hues of blue and that chic yet sophisticated coastal vibe right through your front door.

Christmas Home

1. Entertaining and mix-use spaces: When you think of coastal living, you think gatherings and welcoming settings where just about everything from coffee to cocktails to late night chats could happen. Well, why not bring that same feeling to your own home. Fire up a grill adjacent to a cozy outdoor couch set and even a fire pit. You’ll be the go-to house in no time! If your home allows for it, indoor-outdoor spaces are also a brilliant way to accomplish this. Include floor-to-ceiling sliders or patio spaces that bring in natural light and welcome guests from the inside, out.

2. Gardens and greenery: If you can’t trail in sand and seashells, why not bring in some indoor garden spaces, plants and succulents? There’s never been a better time to embrace nature in a tasteful way within your home.

3. Natural features: We’ve all seen the natural and minimalist trends coming for quite some time, and there’s no better time to follow this path while bringing in hints of blues, greens and yellows to make your home feel like a coastal oasis.

4. Kitchens: Having character in the kitchen brings life to any open concept home. Those backsplash pops, open shelving, light wooden features and even some tasteful rustic features or accent walls have their place in coastal-centered homes. Try to define a color palette, and then bring in one pop of graphic tile or accent material to bring your space to life!

5. Naturally light and bright: While you’re keeping the tones light and airy, it’s also important to think about the windows and even unique aspects like a cupola. You’ll be able to draw in natural light to any interior space with this never-ending trend. If you’re not ready to add new window features or don’t have the proper layout, you can also give the feel of having natural light by including art that provides coastal, seaside scenery from every direction.

So, if you’re ready to pack your bags and put your home on the market, that’s certainly one guaranteed way to allow yourself to find that coastal space of your dreams. But, even if that’s not feasible, you still have endless options to take your current living space to an entirely new level with some slight tweaks, too!
